Privacy Policy

How RateReviewMe processes information across its services, applications, website and support.

Last updated: 1 October 2026.

The short version

RateReviewMe helps businesses request and manage customer reviews.

We only collect and process information needed to provide, operate, secure and improve the RateReviewMe services you use. We do not sell personal information or use customer information for behavioural advertising.

The current RateReviewMe iPhone app stores your business profile, customer list, notes and basic request history locally on your device. Some features, such as finding your business, communicate with RateReviewMe services and third-party providers such as Google.

As RateReviewMe introduces account, web, synchronisation, tracking and other online features, we will update this policy to explain what those features process and how that information is used.

1. About this policy

This policy applies to RateReviewMe websites, applications, APIs, review-request tools, business-lookup services and related support that link to it (together, the "Service"). "RateReviewMe," "we," "us" and "our" refer to the operator of the Service.

Different RateReviewMe features may process different information. This policy describes the Service generally, then identifies the current iPhone app's data handling where relevant.

Google, Apple, mobile carriers and other independent services have their own privacy practices. This policy does not govern those services.

2. Information RateReviewMe processes

Depending on the features you use, RateReviewMe may process:

  • Business information, such as a business name, location, review destination and request-message settings.
  • Customer information that a business chooses to enter, such as a name, mobile number, notes and request history.
  • Business-lookup information, such as search text, language or region, a temporary search-session token and a selected place identifier.
  • Service and device information, such as IP address, request time, response status and basic browser, device or network details contained in ordinary operational logs.
  • Support information, including your email address and anything you include in an enquiry.

We process this information to provide requested features, configure review destinations, prepare review requests, maintain and secure the Service, troubleshoot problems, respond to support enquiries and comply with legal obligations.

3. Current iPhone app

In the current iPhone app, your saved business profile, customer list, notes, message template and basic request history are stored locally on your device. The current app does not require a RateReviewMe account.

You control the information you enter. Your device or backup provider may include app data in backups you configure, subject to that provider's terms and privacy policy.

This describes the current iPhone implementation, not every RateReviewMe service that may be introduced. Features that use accounts, cloud storage or synchronisation will be described here before or when they become available.

4. Business lookup

If you use the current app's business-search feature, it sends your search text and related lookup details through the RateReviewMe lookup service to Google Places. Google may return a place identifier, business name and address so you can choose the correct listing and configure its review destination.

Customer names, mobile numbers and notes are not included in a business-lookup request. We do not save the content of lookup requests in a RateReviewMe application database. Hosting providers may create ordinary access and security logs containing information such as IP address, request time and response status.

5. Review requests

The current iPhone app prepares the recipient and message on your device, then opens Apple's Messages composer. You can edit, cancel or send the message. RateReviewMe does not receive a copy of the message or its delivery status through this workflow.

Other RateReviewMe applications or features may support different communication methods. Where they process information differently, this policy will be updated to explain that processing.

You are responsible for having an appropriate basis to contact each customer and for complying with applicable privacy, marketing, consent and messaging laws.

6. Website

The current website does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or behavioural analytics. Our hosting provider may process standard connection and request information to serve the site, maintain security and prevent abuse.

7. Support

If you contact us, we receive your contact details and the information you provide. We use it to answer your enquiry, investigate problems and keep reasonable business records. Please do not send customer information that is not necessary for your enquiry.

8. Third-party services

The Service may interact with third-party services that operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Services currently relevant include:

  • Google Places and Google Business Profile for business lookup and public review destinations;
  • Apple Messages and mobile carriers when you choose to send a request through Messages; and
  • hosting and infrastructure providers that deliver and protect the website and lookup service.

Use of Google features is also subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms and Google Privacy Policy.

9. How information may be shared

We do not sell personal information or share customer information for behavioural advertising. We may disclose information:

  • to service providers that help us operate, secure or support the Service;
  • to third-party services when you choose a feature that requires that interaction;
  • when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, the public or the Service; or
  • as part of a merger, financing, acquisition or transfer of the business, subject to appropriate safeguards.

10. Data retention and deletion

Information stored on your device

You can edit or delete customer records in the current app. Removing the app deletes its local data, subject to any device backup you control.

Operational logs

We aim to retain ordinary access and security logs for no more than 30 days unless a longer period is reasonably needed to investigate abuse, maintain security or meet a legal obligation.

Support records

We retain support correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, resolve the issue and maintain required business records.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the information and Service involved, including encrypted HTTPS connections for online RateReviewMe services. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. International processing

RateReviewMe and its providers may process information in Australia, the United States or other countries where they operate. Privacy laws may differ between countries. We take reasonable steps to use providers that protect information appropriately for the services they perform.

13. Your choices and rights

  • Choose whether to use business lookup or enter a review destination manually.
  • Edit or delete business and customer information stored in the current app.
  • Cancel a prepared message before sending it.
  • Ask us to access, correct or delete support information associated with you, subject to lawful recordkeeping requirements.
  • Ask a privacy question or make a complaint using the contact details below.

Depending on where you live, additional privacy rights may apply. We will respond to valid requests within a reasonable period and may need to verify your identity.

14. Children

RateReviewMe is a business service and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when RateReviewMe adds or changes features, providers or legal requirements. We will post the revised policy here and update its effective date. Where reasonably possible, we will provide additional notice before a material change takes effect.
